Two Marines Honored with Wounded Personnel Medal for Bravery in Bongo Island Clash

Major General Antonio G. Nafarrete, Commander of the 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division and Joint Task Force Central, awarded the Wounded Personnel Medal to two Navy Marines on October 22, 2024, at Camp Siongco Station Hospital, located in Camp Siongco, Awang, Maguindanao del Norte.

The awardees were identified as SSg Manolo Jr. A. Aurelio PN (M) and Cpl Mark Jay A. Gloria PN (M), both members of the Marine Battalion Landing Team 2.

The two Marines sustained injuries during an encounter with lawless elements in the waters of Bongo Island, Parang, Maguindanao del Norte, on October 18, 2024.

Aside from the medals, the Marines also received cash assistance, fruit baskets, and groceries in recognition of their bravery and service.

The ceremony was attended by key officials of the 6th Infantry Division, including Chief of Staff Col. Edgar L. Catu, and the Commanding Officer of Camp Siongco Station Hospital, Lt. Col. Jeremie C. Villamor.
