Over 5,000 Stranded in Ports Across the Philippines Due to Typhoon Kristine, Says PCG

Over 5,000 people were stranded at various ports across the Philippines on Wednesday morning as Typhoon Kristine brought severe weather conditions.

According to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), a total of more than 5,000 passengers from 96 ports in Southern Tagalog, Bicol, Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Western Visayas, and North Eastern Mindanao were stranded between 12:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m.

The breakdown shows 738 individuals stranded in Southern Tagalog, 2,652 in Bicol, 971 in Eastern Visayas, 227 in Central Visayas, 51 in Western Visayas, and 445 in North Eastern Mindanao.

In addition to passengers, 1,144 rolling cargoes, 68 ships, and 13 motor bancas were also affected. Meanwhile, 272 vessels and 210 motor bancas have temporarily taken shelter due to the storm.
