Lawmaker Urges Probe into PSA’s P5-B Contract with Unisys Over Data Security Concerns

Sta. Rosa, Laguna Representative Dan Fernandez has called on the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) to investigate the P5 billion contract between the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and private service provider Unisys.

According to Fernandez, Unisys has been handling PSA services for 10 years as a private company.

Fernandez raised concerns that the personal profiles of Filipinos going through the service provider may be at risk.

He urged Solicitor General Menardo Guevarra to review the contract between PSA and Unisys.

Fernandez also pointed out that Unisys Corporation has faced legal issues, as reported by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

However, Fernandez did not provide specific details about the nature of Unisys’ case.

His statement follows revelations during a Quad Comm hearing that several Chinese nationals were able to obtain birth certificates through the late registration policy.
