Department of Health (DOH) – Ilocos Region formally opened the Dagupan City Super Health Center (SHC) on August 3, 2024 in Barangay Bolosan to provide medical services for the eastern barangays of the city namely Bolosan, Salisay, Mangin, Tebeng, Tambac and Mamalingling.
The blessing and inauguration were led by Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco and Dagupan City Mayor Belen T. Fernandez.
The facility was funded through the DOH Health Facility and Enhancement Program (HFEP) with a P10 million budget. The city government of Dagupan has provided an additional P5 million for the project making it the biggest SHC facility in the region in terms of floor area and budget.
“This facility will provide services like dental, laboratory, X-ray, birthing facility, and other medical services complementing our existing primary care facilities. Ang pagpapatayo po ng mga super health centers sa bawat munisipyo ay upang mailapit ang mga pangunahing serbisyong medical sa mga tao sa komunidad upang hindi na sila pumunta pa at pumila sa mga hospital.” Director Sydiongco stated.
“Every SHC has a birthing area/delivery room, minor OR/surgical room, ward, dental, laboratory, pharmacy, TB DOTS and other out-patient services to cater for residents in the community.”
She added that the regional office will continue to promote the right to health of the people, and instill health consciousness among them.
“Health awareness lays the foundation to better habits and improved health. And being conscious of your diet and lifestyle can improve your health and overall wellness,” Sydiongco emphasized.
The Dagupan SHC construction began in February 2023 and was completed on August 6, 2024. The access road going to the facility was donated by philanthropist Dr. Ashok Vasandani.
