A hotel in Negros Occidental, resembling a gamecock, has officially been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the “World’s Largest Building in the Shape of a Chicken.”

The “Manok ni Cano Gwapo” hotel, located in Campuestohan Highland Resort in Talisay City, is not only a source of pride for Negros Occidental but for the entire Philippines.

Former Bacolod City Councilor Ricardo “Cano” Tan, owner of the resort, expressed his joy in an interview with Bombo Radyo Bacolod, stating that he is proud to leave a legacy for the city, province, and the world.

Tan explained that the concept for the hotel, designed to resemble a gamecock, came from him, and he did not hire an architect but instead had the idea drawn by local artists.

The businessman emphasized the importance of the game fowl industry, which helped revive Negros Occidental from the sugar crisis of the 1980s, and wanted to give it recognition through this unique structure.

The hotel stands 114 feet and 7 inches tall, with three floors and 15 rooms, offering visitors the chance to climb to the chicken’s comb for an aerial view.

At the hotel’s entrance, life-sized gamecock figures and sugarcane designs welcome guests, while each room features a miniature gamecock on display.

Additionally, the resort is constructing what is set to become the “World’s Longest Water Slide.”
