Taal Volcano Records Two Phreatic Eruptions, Says Phivolcs

Two phreatic eruption events were recorded at Taal Volcano overnight, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The eruptions lasted between two to 14 minutes.

Phivolcs also recorded a Sulfur Dioxide (SO2) flux of 2,064 tons per day.

There was an upwelling of hot volcanic fluids from Taal’s crater lake.

The temperature reached 72.7°C, based on Phivolcs’ monitoring devices.

The steam plume reached a height of 900 meters, classified as moderate steam emission.

The volcanic smoke drifted southwest toward Batangas.

Ground deformation persists around the Taal Caldera, with short-term swelling observed in the northern and southeastern parts of Taal Volcano Island.
