An 18-year-old student was discovered lifeless in an irrigation canal in Bakras, Purok 7, Bulanao Norte, at 3 AM today, October 11.
Initial investigation by the Tabuk City Police Office shows that two female students, aged 18 and 19, were involved in a motorcycle accident at around 6 PM on October 10.
According to the 19-year-old survivor, they were traveling from a business establishment in Purok 5 and heading to another when the 18-year-old driver lost control of the motorcycle, causing them to crash into the irrigation canal.
The 19-year-old was immediately rescued by bystanders, but the 18-year-old was not saved and drowned in the canal.
The body of the 18-year-old was found hours later following a search and retrieval operation conducted by the Special Action Force, Bureau of Fire Protection, City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, and volunteers.
The 18-year-old was a resident of Nambaran, while the 19-year-old survivor is from Bayao, Pinukpuk, Kalinga.
