Man Killed by Cousin with Mental Health Issues, Suspect Arrested

A man was killed after being hacked by his cousin, who reportedly has mental health issues, in Barangay Mobo, Kalibo, Aklan.

The victim, identified as Jenson De Juan, a resident of Barangay Bagto, Lezo, suffered fatal wounds to his neck and head.

The suspect, Dante Morales, 51, allegedly attacked De Juan with two bolos (machetes).

Before the attack, Morales was reportedly chasing neighbors with the weapons and continued his rampage through Barangay Aliputos, Numancia.

According to PSSgt. Iriel Fernandez of the Numancia Municipal Police Station, Morales attempted to escape but was arrested in a banana grove.

The suspect was found under the influence of alcohol and appeared unstable during his arrest.

It was also revealed that two of Morales’ siblings suffer from mental health issues as well.

Morales is currently in custody at the Kalibo Municipal Police Station after being transferred by Numancia police officers.
