UPDATE: Farmer’s Body Swept Away by Irrigation Canal Recovered

The body of Virgilio Madriaga Pamo, a 50-year-old farmer, has been recovered after being swept away by an irrigation system in Barangay Panay Norte, Magsingal, Ilocos Sur. Pamo had gone missing the previous day due to the incident.

Residents, along with assistance from the Philippine Coast Guard and the Ilocos Sur Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, successfully located his body in the middle of the irrigation canal.

Reports indicate that Pamo was walking with his wife, Vanessa Pamo, when he attempted to remove bamboo debris clogging the water flow. However, the strong current swept him away.

Arman Torquato, a companion, tried to rescue Pamo but was unsuccessful.
