LAOAG CITY – F/Supt. Roxanne Parado, Provincial Fire Marshal of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Ilocos Norte, confirmed that three separate fires broke out in the province as Typhoon Julian lashed the area.

The first incident occurred in Barangay 15, Bacarra, where a residential structure was gutted by fire.

According to an initial investigation, faulty electrical wiring was the likely cause of the blaze, which ignited during the second wave of the typhoon’s onslaught.

A second fire broke out in a resort located in Barangay Saud, Pagudpud, with electrical wiring again identified as the probable cause.

Meanwhile, another house fire was reported in Barangay 17, Vintar, which was caused by a lit candle left unattended atop a plastic storage box.

Parado explained that firefighters faced significant difficulties in responding to these incidents due to severe flooding brought by Typhoon Julian in the affected areas, further complicating their rescue efforts.
