Typhoon Julian May Make Landfall in Batanes Today; Another Storm Spotted Outside PAR

Typhoon “Julian” continues to pose a threat as its center remains over the coastal waters of Balintang Channel, Calayan, Cagayan.

The storm maintains powerful winds of 155 km/h near its center, with gusts reaching up to 190 km/h.

Currently moving westward towards the Batanes area at 10 km/h, the typhoon may make landfall in Batanes today, either in the morning or afternoon.

Based on its projected path, Typhoon Julian may briefly exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) before re-entering later. The storm is expected to completely exit PAR by Thursday or Friday.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 4 remains in effect over Batanes and the northern portion of Babuyan Islands.

Signal No. 3 is raised over the rest of Babuyan Islands and the northern part of mainland Cagayan.

Signal No. 2 covers the remaining part of Cagayan, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte, while Signal No. 1 is hoisted over Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Benguet, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Aurora, northern and eastern parts of Nueva Ecija, and the Polillo Islands.

In addition to Typhoon Julian, another tropical storm, named “Jebi,” has been spotted outside the PAR.

Jebi is located 2,010 kilometers east northeast of extreme northern Luzon, with sustained winds of 70 km/h near its center and gusts reaching up to 90 km/h.
