Investigation Underway After Lifeless Infant Found in a Rice Field

TULUNAN, COTABATO – Authorities are conducting an investigation in collaboration with local government units (LGU) and Barangay officials after the lifeless body of an infant was discovered in a rice field in Purok 1, Barangay Bagumbayan, Tulunan, Cotabato.

According to a report from the Tulunan Municipal Police Station (MPS), the body was identified as that of a female infant.

The remains were discovered by farmers harvesting rice in the area.

The farmers immediately reported the incident to the barangay officials, who, upon inspecting the body, confirmed there were no signs of life. They then alerted the police.

The infant was subsequently placed in a cardboard box and transported to a funeral home for further examination.

Currently, barangay officials are investigating whether there are any pregnant women in the area to ascertain the identity of the parents who abandoned the infant.

The police strongly condemned the actions of the parents who discarded their own child, calling it an abhorrent act.
