The late and legendary Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart has dropped new music after 233 years! But hold it, how did this happen?

An unknown piece of music composed by teenage Mozart was recently discovered at a library in Germany.

The piece, which dates back mid to late-1760s, consists of seven miniature movements for a string trio.

According to researchers from Leipzig Municipal Libraries, the new-found music piece lasts around 12 minutes, and is referred to as “Serenade in C”.

The discovery, bound in a mysterious manuscript, was found while compiling the latest edition of the Koechel catalog, a comprehensive archive of Mozart’s works.

Although Mozart started composing during childhood, the piece was not the musician’s handwriting as it is believed to be a copy made around 1780.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, September 26, the music piece was performed by a string trio during the unveiling of the new Koechel catalog in Salzburg, Austria.

It is set for a German premiere at the Leipzig Opera on Saturday, September 28.
