CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Philippine National Police (PNP) has established a special task force to expedite the investigation and resolution of the double murder of two bakery workers in Sagay, Camiguin, as a P2-million reward is offered for information on the case.

Lt. Col. Guillermo Hamut, spokesperson for the Camiguin Police Provincial Office, announced that the task force’s primary objective is to swiftly bring justice to the victims, Reynaldo Esguerra, 40, and Paica Abbu, 21, both residents of Brgy. Manuyog, Sagay.

The two bakery workers were en route to their workplace on a motorcycle when they were ambushed by gunmen, who shot them in the head and chest using a .45 caliber pistol, leading to their immediate deaths.

Investigators suspect that the attack may have been motivated by a personal grudge, with Abbu being the primary target.

In an effort to speed up the resolution of the case, prominent businessman Paul Rodriguez has offered a P2-million reward.

Rodriguez personally met with the Camiguin PNP leadership to extend his support, offering P1 million for anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest of the suspects, and an additional P1 million for the suspects themselves if they surrender and disclose who ordered the killings.

This is the first reported shooting incident in Sagay that has claimed the lives of two civilians.

Authorities are calling on the public to come forward with any information that could help solve the case and bring justice to the victims.
