Suspect Killed After Stabbing Police Officer in Jipapad, Eastern Samar

TACLOBAN CITY – A police officer was injured after being stabbed in Brgy. 4, Jipapad, Eastern Samar, by a suspect who was later shot and killed by responding authorities.

The victim, identified as Police Lieutenant Norben Carbonera, Officer-in-Charge of the Jipapad Municipal Police Station, was attacked by the suspect, known only as “Ariel,” a 37-year-old resident of Brgy. 3, Jipapad.

According to Police Lieutenant Lovely Alyssa Bonifacio, Information Officer of the Eastern Samar Police Provincial Office, the suspect had attempted suicide twice before the incident.

Armed with a knife, the suspect entered the police station and immediately attacked Lt. Carbonera, inflicting multiple stab wounds.

Responding officers quickly intervened, shooting the suspect, which resulted in his death.

Authorities condemned the unprovoked attack, calling it senseless and without deep motive.
