CAUAYAN CITY – Two men lost their lives, and one was injured after a bus collided with their tricycle on a curved road in Barangay Lalauanan, Tumauini, Isabela.

Another passenger, Bryan James Dacuba, sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment.

According to Tumauini Police Chief PMAJ Melchor Aggabao Jr., the bus reportedly oversteered, crashing into the oncoming tricycle.

The victims were travelling toward Tuguegarao City, while the bus was en route to the City of Ilagan.

Chief Aggabao also noted that the road was dark, newly asphalted, and lacked proper lane markings, making it difficult for drivers to determine lane boundaries.

Authorities are now awaiting footage from the bus’s dashcam to conduct a more thorough investigation.

The families of the victims are open to a settlement, provided that the bus company covers all funeral and burial expenses.

The victims had reportedly gone out to buy food, while the bus was bound for Manila. Fortunately, none of the bus passengers were injured.

Chief Aggabao reminded all motorists to exercise extra caution, especially in poorly lit or unmarked roads.
