WATCH | The heated debate between Senators Juan Miguel Zubiri and Alan Peter Cayetano last night in the Senate plenary regarding the adoption of Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 23 on the EMBO Barangays.

Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero announced that there is no reason to impose disciplinary action against Senators Allan Cayetano and Juan Miguel Zubiri following a heated exchange during a plenary session.

Escudero noted that both senators are human and experience emotions, stating, “It’s natural for them to have differing opinions, which can sometimes lead to heightened emotions.”

The incident, which occurred last night, involved a sharp exchange of words between the two senators.

Zubiri clarified that the confrontation would not hinder their work in the Senate, as it lasted only a few minutes before they reconciled.

Escudero mentioned that he also intervened during the situation and apologized, acknowledging that such incidents are common when senators are fatigued after long hours.

The session concluded around 9 PM, with all members eager to rest.
