Former Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner Rowena Guanzon has expressed her discontent following the Office of the Ombudsman’s dismissal of her motion for reconsideration regarding a graft complaint filed against her.

The anti-graft body previously determined that there was sufficient basis to file charges against Guanzon, related to violations of Republic Act 3019, known as the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.

This case stems from her alleged disclosure of confidential information concerning the disqualification case of former presidential candidate Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

In a social media post, Guanzon stated that she was merely defending the integrity of Comelec as an institution.

She argued that it was essential to protect the commission from political interference and the involvement of corrupt officials.

Guanzon insisted that she should not be facing graft charges.
