Former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo was reportedly surprised by the conditions of her cell at the Pasig City Jail Female Dormitory, according to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).

BJMP spokesperson, Jail Superintendent Jayrex Bustinera, shared that despite her initial shock, no further negative reports were received regarding Guo’s first night in the facility.

Bustinera described the cell as a 45-square-meter space, with walls made of iron bars and 10 triple-deck beds. Guo occupies a second-level bunk, alongside five or six other inmates.

Due to limited space, the inmates have to sleep sideways to fit on their beds.

The sleeping arrangements consist of plywood covered in linoleum to prevent bedbugs from penetrating the surface.

This is a far cry from Guo’s previous detention at the Philippine National Police (PNP) facility, where she had her own room and bathroom, complete with a single foam bed.

According to Bustinera, Guo will remain at the Pasig City Jail Female Dormitory unless a court order directs her return to PNP custody.

On her first day at the BJMP, some of Guo’s personal items were confiscated, as only yellow uniforms, hygiene kits, and jogging pants are allowed in the facility.

The seized items will be returned to her lawyer or kept for family visits.
