Investigation Launched into Teacher’s Death After Principal’s Reprimand

DAVAO DE ORO – The Schools Division of Davao de Oro has announced a thorough investigation into the death of teacher Marjorie Espinosa Llanto-Boldo, who allegedly died after being scolded by the principal of Tibagon Elementary School.

This announcement follows reports surrounding the circumstances of her death on September 19, 2024.

The Department of Education (DepEd) Davao de Oro assured the public that it aims to uncover the truth in order to take appropriate action.

They also extended their condolences and prayers to the family of the deceased teacher.

According to a post by the victim’s relative, screenshots from a group chat revealed that Teacher Marjorie was scolded by the principal after a parent approached the principal regarding an incident in which their child sustained a head injury from bumping into a desk while playing in the classroom.

The child reportedly suffered a bleeding head wound due to the accident.

Following the incident, the group chat filled with messages expressing frustration over the principal’s harsh reprimand and the questioning of Teacher Marjorie’s professional capabilities.

Having taught for over 30 years, this incident marked the first time she felt such intense anger directed at her from the principal, which she described as deeply insulting and hurtful.

Currently, the family is demanding justice, believing that the stress from the principal’s outburst contributed to her tragic death.
