Around 100 vehicles were towed by personnel of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) last week due to illegal parking across various parts of Metro Manila.

The MMDA confirmed that their operations continue as they target motorists whose vehicles obstruct public roads in the metropolis.

MMDA officers issued citation tickets to 87 drivers and owners for illegal parking, specifically in areas along Quezon Avenue in Biak na Bato, Quezon City; Dapitan and Blumentritt Streets in Manila; Ortigas Avenue near La Salle Greenhills in Mandaluyong City; as well as F. Blumentritt, F. Manalo, Parada, Wilson, Annapolis, and Connecticut Streets in San Juan City last Thursday.

Public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers, such as jeepney operators, were also warned by MMDA enforcers for picking up and dropping off passengers in areas considered illegal loading and unloading zones, particularly at the EDSA Rotonda in Pasay City.

Motorists caught for illegal parking will face a P1,000 fine, while unattended vehicles—those parked without a driver—will be fined P2,000. These penalties remain in effect after the proposed increase to P4,000 was postponed.
