Tragic Accident: Couple Dies After Close Van Collides with Tricycle in Isabela

Cauayan City – A couple was killed when their tricycle was struck by a close van in San Antonio, San Mateo, Isabela.

The victims were identified as Diosdado Gamiao and Rosan Gamiao, residents of Tandul, Cabatuan, Isabela.

The driver of the close van, identified as 32-year-old Samuel Bejuco from Negros Oriental, was driving toward San Mateo Proper while the tricycle was heading in the opposite direction towards Cabatuan.

Preliminary investigations by the San Mateo Police Station revealed that the van driver had swerved to avoid an obstacle, causing the vehicle to veer into the opposite lane, resulting in the fatal collision with the tricycle carrying the couple.

Rescue San Mateo personnel responded promptly, and the victims were rushed to a nearby hospital but were later pronounced dead.

It was learned that the couple had just come from the hospital after delivering food to the wife’s ailing mother, who is currently confined.

A financial settlement has been reached between both parties, with the van driver providing initial financial assistance to the victims’ family.
