Joel Embiid has agreed to a contract extension with the Philadelphia 76ers, announced on Friday, with the Cameroon-born center stating that he intends to stay with the Sixers throughout his NBA career.

According to multiple sources, the deal was a maximum three-year agreement worth about $193 million to keep him with the 76ers through the 2028-29 season.

According to several sources, the five-year pact is worth $301 million, including the two remaining years of Embiid’s previous contract and a three-year extension.

The 30-year-old Embiid, who graduated from a Florida high school and spent an entire college basketball season at Kansas, announced his news early Friday morning by posting a photo on Instagram. In the photo, he is seen signing a contract with team owner Josh Harris.

“I want to stay here for the rest of my career. I adore this community and everything you’ve done for me and my family,” Embiid wrote. “There is still a lot of work to do. You guys deserve a championship, and I believe we are just getting started.”

Embiid, who scored a franchise-record 70 points against San Antonio last season, finished with the traditional 76ers slogan, “#trusttheprocess.”
