The Philippine Army has firmly denied claims made by the Philippine National Police (PNP) that its reservists are involved in a private army allegedly associated with the religious group Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC).
Col. Louie Dema-ala, spokesperson for the Philippine Army, clarified that there are no KOJC reservists in their ranks, despite the PNP’s insistence on linking the alleged private army to the “Angels of Death.”
He emphasized that the only group listed under the Philippine Army Affiliated Reserve Unit (PAARU) is the SMNI network.
Col. Dema-ala further explained that once an individual becomes a reservist, they are no longer permitted to bear arms.
The Army also stated that they have no plans to conduct an investigation into KOJC regarding this issue, as the group has no negative record and poses no threat.
The Philippine Army has urged the public not to immediately believe reports that tarnish their organization’s reputation.
They also reiterated that any reservist found violating or abusing their position will be removed from their list.
