ILOILO CITY – Former Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog attended the quad committee hearing at the House of Representatives today. The so-called “quadcom” is composed of the House Committees on Dangerous Drugs, Public Accounts, Public Order and Safety, and Human Rights.

During last week’s fifth joint hearing, Public Order and Safety Committee Chairperson Rep. Danilo “Dan” Fernandez of Santa Rosa Lone District had requested Mabilog’s presence for the next scheduled hearing.

Alongside Fernandez, Abang Lingkod Party-list Rep. Joseph Stephen Paduano and Iloilo City Lone District Rep. Julienne “Jamjam” Baronda were also among those who pushed for Mabilog to testify.

It was learned that the former mayor received a verbal invitation to attend the hearing, though he has yet to speak during the session.

Mabilog recently returned to the Philippines after seven years of residing in the United States, landing at Ninoy Aquino International Airport on September 10.

He left the country in August 2017 after then-President Rodrigo Duterte labeled him as a “narco-politician.”

Duterte publicly threatened Mabilog’s life, accusing him of protecting illegal drug syndicates in Western Visayas.
