The Philippine Army, in coordination with the Philippine National Police (PNP), has launched an investigation into reports of several reservists allegedly being involved in the so-called “Angels of Death,” a private army linked to imprisoned Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder Apollo Quiboloy.

According to Col. Reynaldo Balido Jr., deputy chief of the Army’s Public Affairs Office, some members of KOJC are affiliated reservists.

In 2015, KOJC’s media arm, Sonshine Media Network Incorporated (SMNI), was accredited as an affiliated reservist unit of the Philippine Army.

These reservists currently serve under the 2nd Signal Battalion, a Philippine Army Affiliated Reserve Unit, primarily tapped for their expertise in communications.

However, Balido clarified that the Philippine Army only has control over these reservists during wartime or national emergencies.

The official also emphasized that these reservists should not be carrying any weapons.

Should SMNI or any affiliated reservists be found guilty of misconduct, their affiliation with the Army will be revoked, and administrative charges will be filed.

The head of the unit, who also serves as the commander of the group, will face questioning.
