The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has assured that it will file charges against any of its personnel found to be involved in or have assisted in the escape of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo.

BI Intelligence Division Chief Fortunato Manahan Jr. made the assurance during a Senate committee hearing on the alleged illegal activities of Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).

While Manahan could not confirm if any BI personnel were implicated in Guo’s departure, he did not rule out the possibility.

Senator Joel Villanueva raised concerns over the involvement of government officials in POGO operations, suggesting that the illegal business could have the power to influence more than just local officials.

Villanueva stressed that if the criminality surrounding POGOs is not curbed, they could have the capacity to corrupt even more officials.
