226 Dead in Myanmar Floods as Typhoon Yagi Devastates Southeast Asia

A devastating flood in Myanmar, triggered by Typhoon Yagi, has claimed the lives of 226 people, according to Myanmar’s State TV.

The widespread flooding has also left 77 people missing, while 260,000 hectares of rice fields and other crops have been destroyed.

The United Nations has warned that up to 630,000 people are in dire need of assistance following the disaster.

Urgent needs include food, drinking water, shelter, and clothing for those affected.

Typhoon Yagi struck multiple countries in Southeast Asia, including northern Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, and Myanmar, bringing strong winds and heavy rains.

The resulting floods and landslides have claimed more than 500 lives across the region.
