Tropical Depression “Gener” continues to maintain its strength as it moves over the waters east of Cagayan Valley. As of 1:00 PM, the center of “Gener” was located approximately 305 km east-northeast of Casiguran, Aurora, or 325 km east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. The storm carries maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h, gusts up to 70 km/h, and a central pressure of 996 hPa.

The tropical depression is moving north-northwestward at a speed of 10 km/h, with strong winds extending up to 360 km from the center. Areas under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 include Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, and parts of northern Luzon. Winds ranging from 39 to 61 km/h are expected, posing minimal to minor threats to life and property.

Additional Hazards

Heavy rainfall is expected in parts of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, enhanced by both Tropical Depression “Gener” and Tropical Storm “Pulasan.” Gale warnings remain in effect for coastal waters, with moderate to rough sea conditions expected, especially around Batanes, Babuyan Islands, and the northern seaboards of Ilocos Region and Cagayan Valley.

Sea travel is risky, particularly for small seacrafts, in these areas. Mariners are advised to exercise caution or avoid sea navigation, especially in areas covered by gale warnings.

Track and Forecast

“Gener” is expected to make landfall within the next 24 hours in the vicinity of Isabela or Aurora. It will then move west-southwestward across Luzon before turning northwestward and exiting the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Wednesday morning. Outside PAR, it is forecast to continue towards southern China. Intensification into a tropical storm is possible before or after landfall.

Residents and disaster management offices are urged to prepare for potential hazards, including heavy rains and strong winds, and to follow instructions from local authorities.
