Three more lawmakers have expressed their belief that former President Rodrigo Duterte, his daughter Vice President Sara Duterte, Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, and other key personalities could be held accountable for protecting and obstructing the arrest of fugitive Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.

1Rider Partylist Rep. Rodge Gutierrez, House Deputy Majority Leader Jude Acidre, and House Assistant Majority Leader Paolo Ortega V indicated that these figures might have played a role in hiding the leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KoJC) from authorities for several months.

Acidre recommended that the government focus its attention on the most critical aspect of the case. Ortega, meanwhile, questioned whether members of the KoJC should also be held responsible for sheltering and obstructing Quiboloy’s arrest.

Last week, Manila Rep. Joel Chua and Rep. Raul Angelo “Jil” Bongalon of the Ako Bicol party-list suggested that Duterte could be charged with harboring a fugitive and obstruction of justice for allegedly pretending to be unaware of Quiboloy’s whereabouts.

It was recalled that Quiboloy’s TV network announced Duterte’s appointment as the “caretaker” of KoJC properties.

Rep. Bongalon, a lawyer, emphasized that Duterte should stand for the rule of law rather than condoning violations.

He added that both Vice President Sara Duterte and Senator Dela Rosa could also be investigated and charged with obstruction of justice for allegedly diverting police attention during attempts to serve the warrant for Quiboloy’s arrest.
