A Low-Pressure Area (LPA) off the coast of Aurora is expected to bring heavy rains to Northern Luzon, with a chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within 48 hours, according to PAGASA.

The center of the LPA is located 460 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora, and is moving westward, with its trough already causing rains in Cagayan and Isabela.

The enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat) continues to affect Southern Luzon and the Visayas, bringing cloudy skies and widespread rainfall, with the heaviest rains expected over MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, and Negros Island Region.

Localized thunderstorms may also bring rain to Metro Manila and other parts of the country.

Japan Meteorological Agency has classified the LPA as a tropical depression, and PAGASA may follow suit in their next update.

Should the system intensify into a tropical storm, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals will be raised over parts of Northern Luzon.

Weather models indicate the LPA may move westward, crossing Northern Luzon within the next three days, bringing widespread rainfall starting Monday, particularly in Northern Luzon.

The rains are expected to intensify by Tuesday and continue through the weekend, as another possible storm strengthens the habagat, leading to sustained wet weather across the country.
