A significant prisoner swap between Russia and Ukraine took place amid ongoing territorial conflicts between the two nations.

A total of 206 prisoners were exchanged, marking the second swap in just two days.

The exchange was facilitated by the United Arab Emirates, which negotiated with Russia to secure the release of Ukrainian soldiers who had been captured during Russia’s attack on Kyiv’s border in July this year.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the successful swap through a message, stating, “Our people are home.”

Zelensky further expressed that the return of the prisoners to Ukraine was both safe and triumphant.

Residents across Ukraine celebrated the return of their compatriots, and President Zelensky shared images of the soldiers draped in Ukraine’s flag, joyfully embracing one another.

This prisoner swap underscores ongoing international efforts to mediate between the two warring countries, as the conflict continues with no resolution in sight.
