Labor leaders Leody de Guzman and Luke Espiritu have officially announced their candidacy for the Senate in the upcoming 2025 elections.
The announcement was made during the 31st anniversary celebration of the Bukluran ng Manggagawang Pilipino (BMP).
In his speech, de Guzman highlighted that the root of many societal issues lies in the political dynasties and elites who create laws and policies that serve the interests of big businesses.
Espiritu, on the other hand, not only spoke against political dynasties but also criticized President Ferdinand Marcos and Vice President Sara Duterte, arguing that they should not be allowed to dominate political discourse.
De Guzman previously ran for president in 2022 under the Partido Lakas ng Masa, finishing eighth. He also ran for senator in 2019, securing the 38th spot.
Espiritu, who ran alongside de Guzman-Bello in the 2022 Senate race, finished 34th with 3,470,550 votes.
