More than 1,300 individuals have been evacuated due to severe flooding in Bago City, Negros Occidental, according to a report from the Bago City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).
City Councilor Mayette Javellana stated in an interview that 11 out of the 24 barangays in Bago City have been affected by the floods.
Among these barangays are Lag-asan, Atipuluan, Napoles, Dulao, Sampinit, Pacol, Balingasag, Busay, Ma-ao, Sagasa, and Malingin.
Evacuees from Purok Sampinit Poblacion have been temporarily sheltered at Bago City Coliseum, where large tents have been set up to accommodate families of up to five members each.
Councilor Javellana also reported that some residents in Barangay Sagasa were trapped by the floodwaters but were quickly rescued by the CDRRMO. Fortunately, no injuries were recorded.
The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) continues to provide assistance by distributing food packs to various evacuation centers, while water supplies are also being delivered to these shelters.
Evacuees expressed their gratitude to those providing aid during this difficult time.
