House Quad Committee Chair Rep. Robert Ace Barbers expressed optimism that the Supreme Court will reject the petition for certiorari filed by Cassandra Ong’s legal team, which seeks protection against alleged pressure, influence, harassment, threats, and verbal and mental abuse during Congressional and Senate hearings.
The petition, which aims to shield Ong from attending the hearings, was filed after she claimed mistreatment during the investigations.
Barbers emphasized that the ongoing investigation should not be halted and urged for Ong’s cooperation to uncover the truth regarding her possible involvement with Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) that were previously raided by authorities.
Barbers also questioned Ong’s claims of harassment, asking where in the proceedings she had experienced such treatment.
Ong, who was arrested in Indonesia along with Shiela Guo and later returned to the Philippines, is currently serving the remainder of her 30-day detention at the House of Representatives.
