Over 3,000 Individuals Displaced Due to Typhoon Ferdie Rains – NDRRMC

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that over 3,000 individuals were displaced due to the rains brought by Typhoon Ferdie, further intensified by the Southwest Monsoon (Hanging Habagat), despite its brief stay in the Philippines.

According to the agency’s data released on Saturday, a total of 4,464 families or 14,215 individuals were affected by the storm across the Western Visayas, Davao Region, and Soccsksargen regions.

Out of the affected population, 1,070 families, or 3,408 individuals, were evacuated and are currently staying in 74 evacuation centers, while others sought refuge with relatives and friends.

The strong winds caused damage to several homes, with five houses reported destroyed and 12 partially damaged in the provinces of Antique, Negros Occidental, Davao Occidental, Davao Oriental, and Sarangani.

In response, the government has distributed P921 million worth of relief assistance to the typhoon victims.

Typhoon Ferdie entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday evening and exited at around 2:00 a.m. on Saturday.
