Senate Deputy Minority Leader Sen. Risa Hontiveros opposed the motion filed by the camp of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy to be placed under hospital arrest in Davao City.

In a statement, Sen. Hontiveros stressed that Quiboloy is facing serious charges, including human trafficking, rape, and child abuse, and should be treated equally under the law regardless of status or connections.

The senator firmly stated that there should be no special treatment for the pastor. She also questioned the appropriateness of Quiboloy’s request to be detained in Davao, hinting at his influential friends in the city.

Hontiveros added that Quiboloy no longer has the right to choose where he wants to be detained, remarking that he is no longer in his “King Dome” and should stop acting like a god.

This statement came after PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo revealed that Quiboloy’s lawyers had filed a motion at the Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 159 to transfer him and co-accused Ingrid Canada to the Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Davao, citing medical conditions.

In response to the motion, the court ordered the PNP to coordinate with government doctors for Quiboloy and Canada’s medical checkup. While awaiting the resolution, Quiboloy will remain in the PNP detention facility, while four other co-accused have been transferred to Pasig City jail.
