The alleged doppelganger of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo, Catherine Salazar, appeared before the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Friday to address accusations of impersonating the ex-mayor in order to mislead authorities.

Salazar arrived at the NBI office in Quezon City around 2 PM, wearing a light green shirt, jeans, a face mask, and glasses, with her long hair styled similarly to Alice Guo’s appearance before she went into hiding.

Her presence at the NBI aims to clarify the claims that she was used to confuse investigators while Guo evaded capture.

Earlier, NBI Assistant Director for Investigation Service Lito Magno had a conversation with Alice Guo after her arrest in Indonesia. During the exchange, Magno showed Guo a photograph of a woman, asking if it was her.

Guo denied being the person in the photo, claiming that it was one of her staff members.

The NBI had previously speculated that Guo’s aide, Catherine Salazar, was used as a decoy during the search for the ex-mayor, who had been hiding since July.

Authorities continue to investigate the extent of Salazar’s involvement and whether she intentionally misled the authorities.
