Marikina City Representative Stella Quimbo, senior vice chairperson of the House Committee on Appropriations, assured that the House of Representatives will approve the proposed P6.352-trillion 2025 national budget on its third and final reading by September 25.
Earlier, Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez committed that the House will pass the budget before the third and final regular session of Congress goes into recess on September 25.
The Speaker stated that the proposed budget will support President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr.’s Agenda for Prosperity and Bagong Pilipinas programs.
Quimbo announced that plenary debates on the proposed budget will begin on Monday, focusing on the general principles used to consolidate the 2025 spending program.
She expressed confidence that the budget deliberations would be completed by September 25, as marathon sessions are scheduled to start at 10:00 AM.
The plenary session is also expected to see debates among lawmakers, with heads of various government agencies in attendance.
Quimbo further revealed the decision of the Committee on Appropriations to cut the proposed 2025 budget of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) by P1.3 billion—from P2.03 billion to P733 million.
