The Department of Justice (DOJ) has affirmed that the decision on whether Kingdom of Jesus Christ Pastor Apollo Quiboloy will be allowed house arrest is now within the court’s jurisdiction.
Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla explained that it is up to the court to decide whether to grant Quiboloy’s motion for house arrest.
He noted that house arrest is typically granted to fugitives who voluntarily surrender and do not pose a significant burden on law enforcement.
In Quiboloy’s case, Remulla pointed out that the situation is less clear-cut since Quiboloy took over two weeks to surrender to authorities.
However, Remulla added that courts sometimes grant house arrest to defendants with severe health conditions. He concluded that only the court can resolve this matter at present.
