The National Task Force on the West Philippine Sea (NTF-WPS) has doubled its efforts to reach rural areas with an information dissemination campaign defending Philippine territory seized by China.
Philippine Coast Guard Spokesperson for the WPS, Commodore Jay Tristan Tarriela, made the announcement following the successful 3rd leg of the “Takbo para sa West Philippine Sea,” which was attended by over 1,500 participants from various parts of Mindanao in Cagayan de Oro City.
Tarriela noted that, aside from the fun runs held in Manila, Cebu, and Cagayan de Oro, the national government is preparing to launch similar events in Baguio City and Dapitan City in Region 9.
Additionally, NTF-WPS Chairman and retired AFP Chief of Staff General Eduardo Año has directed an intensive caravan campaign to local government units and universities to correct misinformation spread by China.
This move aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s goal to ensure transparency on the WPS issue, urging the public to support the Philippines in standing up against China’s aggression and oppression.
