Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Norman Tansingco has confirmed that he has not yet been officially informed of his removal from office.

The issue arose after Senate Majority Leader Francis Tolentino directly inquired whether Tansingco had been replaced.

During a hearing of the Senate Committee on Women and Children, Tansingco stated that he learned about the decision to remove him from his position solely through media reports.

When Tolentino questioned him again about whether he had been officially notified of his impending removal, Tansingco reiterated that he had only been informed through media sources.

The BI is among the government agencies that have faced criticism after Alice Guo and her brother left the country in early July, despite an arrest warrant issued by the Senate for their refusal to cooperate with the investigation.
