Fuel Tanker Collision in Nigeria Claims 48 Lives, Sparks Deadly Explosion

At least 48 people were killed in the central Nigerian state after a fuel tanker collided with a truck carrying passengers and cattle, according to the country’s disaster agency.

The Niger State Emergency Management Agency reported that the crash occurred yesterday, triggering an explosion that engulfed both vehicles in flames.

Abdullahi Baba-arah, the agency’s director-general, shared that response teams were dispatched to the scene to manage the situation.

Several other vehicles were also caught in the explosion.

Explosions and accidents of this nature are not uncommon in Nigeria, largely due to poor road conditions in the region.
