Bohol Declares State of Calamity as Dengue Cases Surge, 14 Deaths Reported

The declaration was recommended by the Provincial Board to the Bohol Provincial Anti-Dengue Task Force as the number of cases rapidly increased, allowing the residents to better prepare for the outbreak.

According to the initial report from Bohol’s Provincial Health Office, a total of 5,839 dengue cases have been recorded from January to August 24 this year, with 14 deaths attributed to the disease.

In response to the sudden spike in cases, the 10 government-run hospitals in the province have distributed supplies of intravenous fluids and non-structural protein 1 (NS1) kits to aid in the treatment of dengue patients.

With the state of calamity in effect, residents are expected to organize clean-up drives and promptly seek medical consultation if they experience any dengue symptoms.
