DSWD Releases Requirements for Centenarian Cash Gift under RA 10868

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has outlined the requirements needed to receive the PHP 100,000 centenarian cash gift under Republic Act (RA) 10868, also known as the Centenarians Act of 2016.

DSWD Spokesperson Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao stated that a baptismal certificate, as well as school or employment records showing the centenarian’s birth month, may be submitted.

These documents are required if the primary documents are unavailable or if no records can be found.

Dumlao added that if the centenarian has passed away, the cash gift will be awarded to their children or nearest relatives.

The primary documents to be submitted by the centenarian’s family include the birth certificate and Philippine passport.

These should be submitted to the City or Municipal Social Welfare Office or the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) in the respective locality.

In addition to the birth certificate and Philippine passport, primary identification cards from OSCA, Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), Social Security System (SSS), driver’s license, Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) license, and Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Voter’s ID may also be presented.

According to RA 10868, all Filipinos who reach 100 years of age or older, whether residing in the Philippines or abroad, will receive a Letter of Felicitation from the President of the Philippines and a centenarian gift worth PHP 100,000.

The Expanded Centenarians Act also provides benefits for senior citizens aged 80, 85, 90, and 95.
