Three fishermen from Bolinao, Pangasinan have safely returned home after being rescued from drifting at sea for three days in the waters of Ilocos Norte. The fishermen were identified as Corajel Carolino, 58, Ace Carolino, 36, and Ramon Fernandez, 58.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo, PCapt. Jayson Orilla, Deputy Chief of Police in Bolinao, shared that the fishermen were fetched early this morning by the Bolinao LGU, MDRRMO, and local police.

According to their account, they failed to anticipate the arrival of Typhoon Enteng when they ventured out to sea on August 29 from Pangasinan.

While returning from the waters off Magsingal, Ilocos Sur, on September 2, they were hit by strong waves, causing their boat to capsize.

The fishermen clung to their overturned boat and survived by drinking rainwater while adrift for three days before being swept towards Ilocos Norte.

They were eventually spotted and rescued by a passing vessel, MV Zarita, en route to Indonesia, which alerted the Philippine Navy.

The three were immediately brought to the Rural Health Unit in Currimao, where they were reported to be in stable condition.

PCapt. Orilla reminded fishermen to avoid going out to sea due to the continued rainy weather. He also noted that monitoring of flood-prone areas is ongoing, though the situation in Bolinao remains stable.
