A man was found dead inside a restroom in Barangay Poblacion, Banayoyo, Ilocos Sur, at around 8:40 AM on February 11, 2025.
The victim was identified as Danilo Gagno Orpilla, 53, a widowed farmer residing in the area.
According to Police Executive Master Sergeant Charito Ponce, the Municipal Executive Senior Police Officer of Banayoyo Police Station, they received a report regarding the discovery of Orpilla’s body and immediately responded alongside personnel from the Rural Health Unit-Banayoyo and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
Authorities found Orpilla’s lifeless body inside the restroom, slumped over the toilet bowl with his head resting on the floor.
Investigations revealed that Orpilla was a frequent alcohol drinker and was last seen consuming liquor on the morning of February 10, continuing late into the night.
Dr. Cherry Lee Mayegayeg, the Municipal Health Officer, officially declared Orpilla dead.
His family declined an autopsy examination.
