5 Dead in Bus and SUV Collision on Majayjay-Lucban Road, Laguna

Five people were killed in a tragic collision between a passenger bus and a sports utility vehicle (SUV) along the Majayjay-Lucban Road in Majayjay, Laguna on Sunday afternoon.

According to Reyjohn Libato, officer of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), the accident occurred between Barangay Bakia and Ilayang Banga.

Among the fatalities were the bus conductor and three passengers who were instantly killed on the spot.

Another passenger, initially brought to the hospital, later succumbed to injuries.

The bus was carrying around 30 passengers, who were all rushed to various hospitals in Laguna for treatment.

The bus was reportedly hired to transport passengers to the religious site Kamay ni Hesus in Lucban, Quezon, while the SUV was en route to Atimonan, Quezon at the time of the incident.

Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
