According to the Miss Universe organization, the National Costume segment allows contestants to share the story, traditions, and values of their respective countries.

Manalo’s winning costume, titled “Hiraya,” emphasized the rich religious heritage of the Philippines.

Designed by Manny Halasan, the costume featured patterns inspired by Islamic art, the traditional Puni craft of Bulacan, and the image of Our Lady of Antipolo.

The elaborate headpiece showcased a boat symbolizing the Galleon Trade, representing the historical trade connection between Manila and Mexico.
