According to PCapt. Jefferson Dalayap, Deputy Chief of Police of Reina Mercedes Police Station, the bus and tricycle were traveling along the national highway toward Cauayan City.

The tricycle was in the outer lane, while the bus, driven by Julius Camua of Gonzaga, Cagayan, occupied the fast lane.

The collision occurred as the tricycle attempted a U-turn, leading to its impact with the oncoming bus.

Due to poor visibility in the area and the bus’s speed, the driver failed to notice the turning tricycle in time to stop.
